Title: Vanish
Genre: Horror
Rating: R
Prompt: flash of lighting @ [info]story_lottery
Summary: This is how you lose your life.
Word Count: 405 words
Disclaimer: All characters, plot points, words, etc., are my own and I infringe on no known copyrights. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is sheer coincidence.

A/N: A two part story that originally started out based on "lightning" and ended up more like "flash". Re-reading, the two seem less related than I thought; in my head, they work, but then again, I'm the one who wrote them. *shrug* (Also, YAY! I finally finished on the last day!)

Title: The Tower of Zatim (Part Two)
Genre: Fantasy/Adventure
Rating: PG
Prompt: fire @ [info]story_lottery
Summary: A young nobleman goes on a perilous journey to save a beautiful princess from the clutches of an evil magician.
Word Count: 1,465 words
Disclaimer: All characters, plot points, words, etc., are my own and I infringe on no known copyrights. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is sheer coincidence.

A/N: The second part of the epic. Part Two was written with the hero's inner fire and determination in mind. Also, it might be a load of crap. I can't tell, because it's late, and I'm sick, and also because I was forced to limit my time and thus, things were pretty rushed. I'm... not upset with it though. I may expand on the idea when I have more time.

Title: The Tower of Zatim
Genre: Fantasy/Adventure
Rating: PG
Prompt: full moon @ [info]story_lottery

Word Count:1,568 words
Disclaimer:All characters, plot points, words, etc., are my own and I infringe on no known copyrights. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is sheer coincidence.

A/N: Okay, I know it's not exactly a "story" story, but it's basically just a story in epic poem structure, so I count it. I would count it more as a story than as a real poem. I just like the way it looks this way, mostly.

Story Lottery: Prompt: a Soap Bubble - La Grande Guerre de Vie
Title: La Grande Guerre de Vie
Rating: PG
Prompt: a soap bubble @ [info]story_lottery
Word Count: 1,284
Disclaimer: All characters, plot points, words, etc., are my own and I infringe on no known copyrights. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is sheer coincidence.

Summary: Conflict, however small, is still a struggle of wills.

A/N: I came upon the idea for this story in the middle of the night and originally meant to just jot it down and leave it. It was completely unrelated to other things I was working on and I didn't really know where I wanted to go with it. Alas, I just kept on typing and it was finished in a shorter time than I usually spend on stories. It's obscurely related to the prompt (blink and you'll miss the references), or perhaps, it's completely related, in a weird, metaphorical way.

Title: Tasters Three
Genre: Adaptation
Rating: G
Prompt: a second @ [info]story_lottery
Summary: On a fine spring morning, a father consults his sons, fruits are eaten, and a young man is held in a higher esteem than previously thought.
Word Count: 1,007
Disclaimer: All characters, plot points, words, etc., are my own and I infringe on no known copyrights. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is sheer coincedence.
A/N: This is my random and biased interpretation of the story of the Vinegar Tasters, which briefly exposes the audience to main Taoist theory. Upon seeing the prompt, 'a second', I thought to myself, "a second what?" The answer is, of course, a second son.

I'm going to try and get a handle on LiveJournal. Finally.

And I'm going to boost my muse by giving myself a new challenge: 100 original fictions based on various prompts, all pieces being exactly 100 words.

So. We'll see how that goes. O.o

What fictional character do you most identify with?

View 508 Answers

Male - Kvothe (The Name of the Wind, Patrick Rothfuss)

He's a fast-learner, determined, and flawed in interesting ways. I like to think those apply to me. I certainly identify with him at any rate.

Female - Jane Eyre (Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte)

Perhaps it's more her situation/life I identify with, rather than her actual character, but I still love her character to bits and think I act a lot like her.

A germ-phobic drug dealer runs from gangster, bursts in on corrupt cops and their child-trafficking operation, saves a life, moves in with his sister in England, and has some odd dealings with the locals, all while trying to pretend that powerful people aren't out to get him.

Is there a story behind your real name or avatar? How did you end up being called that?

View 500 Answers

Well, my name is Melanie, but my twin sister Mari has always called me Em. I don't know where she got it, but it eventually evolved to Emmy and Rose is my middle name.

My av is Brian Molko from Placebo, cos they're one of my favorite bands and I just like it. I might change it soon.

Who do you care about most in your life?

View 500 Answers

Color. At any point in my life, there has to be something colorful, literally or figuratively. I surround myself with all sorts of bright things: blankets, scarves, books, pillows, wall art, and shoes are just a few. But if I'm somewhere I can't control the surroundings, I try to be around colorful people, perhaps not the most easy people to get along with initially, but certainly the most entertaining and rewarding in the end. I suppose it sounds odd (or maybe not), but it's really the only part of my life that I can control and be as bright and eye-catching as possible. Colors are just.... really important to me. They make everything else not seem so bad.
